PCI Slots

Its been a while since I built a PC and cant remember the differences between the PCI slots on a motherboard.

I have been looking at a board which has:

a) 2 x PCI-E x16 slots
b) 2 x PCI x1 slots
c) 2 x PCI slots

I appreciate that the 2 x PCI slots (c) will be used for sound cards etc and that the 2 PCI-E x 16 slots (a) would be used for graphics.

My 2 questions are:

1. Can you use a normal PCI card in a PCI-E x 16 slot?

2. What would you use the 2 PCI x 1 slots for? (They seem very small to me).

1) No.

2)PCI-e slots? they are for the new breed of PCI-e cards.

Here is a pci-e 1x card click here(19839)LaCie-SATA-II-3Gbs-PCIExpress-Card-With-2-Ports.aspx.

I think they are expensive and have no real value over a normal PCI card.
