what is the minumum power supply need for just one pci-e times 16 slot

  Totally-braindead 14:59 22 Jan 07

It depends on the card. Lower end cards will run quite happily on a 250-275 watt supply but any card with a seperate needs between a 350 and 450 watt power supply. Also depends to a certain degree on the make of power supply. A good brand name one rated at 400 watts will provide more consistant power than a cheap 500 watt one.

If you open the case and look for a label on the power supply. There will be one on it somewhere, it will say what it is.

Looking on Compaq's website and searching for spares for your model suggests it's a 250w psu.

As Totally-braindead says, it might run a low end card, but you'd need to upgrade it to run anything like a 7600 card

A 7600gs for example requires a 350w min psu; if you're going to replace it, I'd suggest 450-500w so it should power whatever you add in the near future.

i have the sr1909, upgraded ram, a slave hdd and graphics card (7600gt) the 300 watt psu that came with the machine seemed ok for about a week then had some problems when running games so upgraded to a 530 watt psu which solved the problem
