In the latest edition, a suggestion is put forward to speed up the shutdown of Win XP, create a new shortcut on the desktop and insert "shutdown-s" and select next. When I tried this I was informed that it was unable to locate the file "shutdown-s".
If others have tried this could they enlighten me as to what I have done wrong.

There should be a space between shutdown and -s.

Thank you Eric for the speedy solution. I will see how much quicker the shutdown actually is.

If you want to implement the 'Abort Shutdown' shortcut too then there is a mistake there also. The correct command is shutdown -a

I too missed all of that. Thank you for this information.
