PC World networking kits

Last year I succesfully networked 2 computers using the above kit, one running ME the other using windows 98. The ME computer also had a network card to connect to ntl broadband. Since upgrading the ME computer to XP home I have been unable to get the network to work although the broadband connection is fine. If the network card from the kit (Asound 10/100) is enabled then XP will not load it will just hang halfway through.Once I have started the computer and check the network card Windows tells me it is working properly. Although this network card is not supported by XP the box says it is XP compliant and comes with XP drivers. Any suggestions?
