I was going to upgrade my XPSP2 to add some new components etc and when the PC boots it asks for the XP CD. i pop it in all ok, but then says theres not enough space on the C: drive so i have to cancel setup.

So when i boot i have 2 menus:

Start XP
Run XP setup

If i press Start XP it loads fine but the screen is tiny and i cant change the resolution or anything.

In msconfig/Boot.ini i have:
C:\$Win_NT$.BT~\BOOTSEC.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup"

How can i fix this, or remove it from Boot.ini?

Cheers

And i dont understand why it says there isnt enough space, i have 20.5GB free on C: drive

Cheers

Ok i removed the second menu from Boot.Ini but when i restart it still has 2 menus now that say:

1) Start XP (or something)
2) Run Windows Default

and it still wont let me change display settings or anything

I had this prob a while ago. I'm not sure about the resolution, but if boot.ini says something like:

default=multi(0)disk(0)partition(0)\setup.bkf
multi(0)disk(0)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Windows XP" /fastdetect

copy the windows xp part to the default.

As in the "multi(0)disk(0)partition(0)\WINDOWS" part.

I would consider doing a WindowsXP "Repair" if you cannot solve the problem.
