PC turns on, then off

Just recently put together a PC, but when I turn it on it immediately turns off again. I have used a PCU that works fine on another computer, and I've tried switching the power switch around. Nothing seems to work. My guess is that the CPU is knackered. Any ideas?

I think you need to tell the forum members details of your PC's components .

<<I have used a PCU that works fine on another computer>>

Do you mean PSU or CPU?

PSU, sorry

Serious lack of detail.

Have you previously built pcs successfully? or is this your first attempt?

Are you using new parts or lots of secondhand/cannibalised bits from old pcs?

Did you use Thermal Paste on the CPU?

Are there any lights? any beeps?

etc etc etc and then we have a chance of helping find the problem.

Immediate shut off sounds like either PSu

or Overheat of CPU

As above

is CPU to heat sink fitted with paste or thermal pad? does the cpu fan turn?
