PC Turns itself off

I July I bought a PC for my grandson to play games. Bought in on ebay, described as P4 D 6.4 64 BIT/2GB DDR2/320GB HDD/DVDRW/512MB VGA/PC. Trying to play games produced error codes and shut down. Sent it back for attention - told it was a matter of installing drivers - and it arrived back today. (The delay has been due firstly to the seller's holiday, closely followed by our own).

Now when trying to play a game it simply reverts to a black after about 5 mts and it is necessary to shut it off at the cpu and restart it.

Any ideas?

If it's a new computer from a vendor, then send it back and say it's not fit for it's purpose.

Or was it just a private sale?

Do you have any problems with it if it is used for something other than games for an hour or two?

Check the specs and drivers installed with this; click here

Start the machine from cold and run a graphics stress test; this is still quite taxing for most systems click here - if you see the same behaviour you might have a graphics card problem. Overheating or video memory.
