PC still sluggish after removing Q811493

  EmBeZzLeR 19:24 28 Apr 03

The problem started after i had removed Q811493 and left my computer switched off for a day (i normally leave my computer on 24/7) as the room it have it in was being redecorated. (NB. I did not leave the computer in the room while it was being redecorated.)

I know this could be any number of things but the computer only became sluggish when installing Q811493 but even though i've removed it, it's starting to freeze when i open programs, windows, IE.... it freezes for 1/2 mins. I'm hoping a defrag might sort this but i won't know until tomorrow as i'm going to leave it doing a defrag over night.

I have the same problem. I uninstalled Q811493. Still sluggish. So I reinstalled Q811493 and it is worse. I will let you know if I find a solution.

Same problem, but, I didn't install this update, but did install the others that were released the same time. I can't remember which ones they were to remove them. My system is very sluggish when opening programs, and I find I have to reboot every couple of hours. I've defragged it, cleaned the registry, cleared out the usual clutter all with no effect

Q811493 is a recommended patch listed on XP update which deals with security issues.

  EmBeZzLeR 13:07 29 Apr 03

You will find updates 330994 under outlook express and 813489 under IE in add/remove programs

I've deleted all thses downloads and everything seems to be working much faster without any freezing.
