Looking to purchase new system but with modifications.

Have looked at manufacturers such as Evesham, Mesh etc.

Also came across PC Specialist Ltd but no nothing about them.

Does anyone have experience in dealing with them ?

Are there other reputable companies like them ?

Looking at system using AMD 64 or FX CPU and incorporating PCI and SLI technology.

Are there any motherboards, chipsets and graphics cards to support this arrangement?

Is SLI only available to nVidia cards and is this likely to change?

Can you use different makes/models of cards?

Can a second card be purchased at a later date and converted to SLI (if others components configured at time) ?

Can existing technology (eg monitors or even the current cpus ) cope?

just looked at their site they dont accept credit cards which would put me off, but on the plus side you do get the cd for software/operating system.

I have emailed them about their computers but am still awaiting a response. I want to spend about a £1000 but that obviously is too small fry to necessitate an email response to my questions.

Maybe I will go for Dell then....perhaps?!?!?!

I got a system from them early last year I could not fault them. My 1 year warranty ran out some time ago and three weeks ago my 8800 ultra went pop I contacted them and they have sorted out a replacement for me which i thought was excellent. The odd times that I have had to contact them they have allways been very helpfull.

Well what can be said about PC SPECIALIST LTD? I ordered a notebook to my own specification as I wanted to be able to influence what I wanted so as to get rid of all the junk that tends to be put with a notebook just to make it sound better. PC SPECIALIST LTD looked as if they could deliver. I looked at the options available placed an ordered and made the payment. Notebook arrived three days later and this is where the expectation ended. The notebook came missing the power supply adaptor, and on closer inspection of the notebook the 200GB HDD should have been partitioned as 2 x 100GB. The partition was done but second partition was not formatted or assigned a drive letter. If it was not for my friend who is good at computers I would have been none the wiser.

I rang PC SPECIALIST LTD and asked where my mains adaptor was and why was my HDD not partitioned as requested, 1st answerer adaptor will be sent out for Monday coming. Monday came and no adaptor arrived, so I phoned on Tuesday and found it had not been sent. 2nd answerer to my questions was that a Karl would call from tech support and run through the process to make 2nd partition appear in windows explorer. At 1630 approx I phoned them and asked why I had not heard from Karl, they put me through to him and I then proceeded to sort the partition. After he came off the phone we restarted the notebook and nothing happened as the operating system was not seen and it had to have everything reinstalled by my friend.

Would I go again to PC SPECIALIST LTD? No, would I recommend them to friends? No
