Does it come on in safe-mode?

What is running when pc comes on?

Not wanting to worry you but I have heard that some intel chips play a certain classical tune when they are about to die - Beethoven's _fur elise_, or the likes. [At least I think I heard this, not dreamt it...]

Lu-tze, comes on in safe mode and normal mode. Only programmes in start up are Norton Antivirus and MSN messenger

JOHNNYBGOOD - go to start_run and type in msconfig

Then under the startup tab, check what is there - a lot of them can be unticked, but leave your AV, load power profile, and systray.

Reboot and see what happens.
