Pc slowing down and not shutting down properly

My pc has become temperamental, sometimes it is very slow and won't even let me open programmes, happenning increasingly and it tends to not shut down properly

It is a 128M processor, 17G HD and I am on Win98 with Norton utilities running aprox 67% free disc space

Any ideas?

Have you run Scandisk and defragmented recently?

I have defrag I seem to have to defrag to shut down sometimes I havent scan disk for a while

Do you chaeck for spyware ?
I had similar problem and spyware was problem.
Try Adaware , from click here .
It cured my problem.
