pc slow

Hi my pc is windows xp home edition 1 gb of ram, bt broadband, its been slow for some time. It was slow with 512 of ram so upped it to 1 gb. Just put norton 360 on it, no improvement. Can anyone help please.

Personely i would get rid of Norton

As tullie says,Norton can be a terrible resource hog.
Also press ctrl,alt,del and see if anything is using all your cpu or memory resources.
Then the usual things.
Antivirus scan
spyware scan

have you got sp2 on board, and all your windows updates? which antivirus program WAS on board prior to Norton and what other protection programs do you have?

what package have you got with the BT Broadband?

Click Start>Run

Type MSCONFIG into the blank box and click OK.

Click the last tab which is labelled Startup. This lists all the programs which automaticaly start with Windows. Uncheck the programs you don't need, Click apply and then ok. You will need to restart your system at this point, after which , it will run quicker...
