pc shuts down by itself

had a few occasions when my pc would just hibernate and then boot up again a few minutes later, this would happen several times
I opened it up and cleared out all the dust, changed settings to disable hibernate but after 15 minutes it shut down
also running speedfan to monitor temp, which is about 31 degrees
been running now for an hour and a half but not sure if I have cured it yet, am I right to suspect the psu is faulty or is it more likely the cpu was getting hot cos of the dust

Most likely cause is overheat.

However a dying PSU can also cause the same problem.

Auto-reboot disable:
When Running windows and it crashes you will get a blue screen and it will automatically restart, often it will restart too fast for you to see the error message.
To disable auto restart on system failure, so you can see the error message.

1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System (Windows+Pause works, too)
2. Go to Advanced
3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"
