pc says i need a windows service pack

I recently bought a cd-rw whilst trying to install it a prompt came up saying unable to install need a windows service pack, for a new version of your windows install service, can i get one of these? is it possible to download it?

Yes, Have you SP1? You may be able to get microsoft to send you one or go to click here but it is long so be warned.

What Windows are you running? Windows 2000, win98 etc.

It took me ages to download a small bit on dial-up before I upgraded to broadband.

Try downloading 98 Service packs then if you use 98, if nothing solves then you may need to use a different program, a NON XP version becuase you may be installing the XP version of a program/.

"hi i'm running on win98se"

There are no Service Packs for Win 98SE, but there is for Win XP so it looks like as Gaz 25 says your trying to install the wrong version of the program. Have a closer look at the instructions that came with the CD-RW to make sure it's compatable with Win 98SE.
