Hi All!

My friend's PC restarts by itslef although the "Turn Off" button is pressed to shut down completely. It simply won't shut down.

I checked and found no programs scheduled to "restart" the PC.

Please, each and every suggestion is welcome!

May be overheating.if an oldish computer check that the air vents are clear of dust and fluff.if so inside the computer will also need cleaning especially around the fans.

in the control panel just to make sure that it isn't set up to restart when you press the Off button.

I would suggest a failed power supply, this happened to my pc last year, just fitted a new one, and it was perfect again. :)

You need to disable the "Automatic restart" in System Properties, Start Up and Recovery then write down what the BSOD says and post it here.
It could be a driver issue, a software or a hardware issue.

Just as you told! The following BSOD appeared! And the system unit's lamp did not go off!

"STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down."

So, what to do next?

First thing would be to try tapping F8 just after PC is switched on to enter Safe Mode, and select Last Known Good Configuration.

If the above does not work then try a System Restore to a point prior to when this error started. Again, do this is Safe Mode.

What OS is it?

It is a Windows XP. I will try to do and reply you ASAP.
