PC Performance & 3dMark03

  Singerz 15:13 27 May 04

My PC is the following spec: 2.8gig P4 CPU with 800FSB and hyper threading, Asus P4P800 mobo, 120 gig SATA HDD, 512mb DDR RAM running in dual channel mode and GeForce FX5600 256mb DDR graphics card.

When using 3dMark03 I get a benchmark of about 1800 which is pretty disappointing.

Anyone got any ideas why?

To sum it up I would say that it is because of your graphics card. The FX5600 is basically like the Geforce4 MX range of cards for the FX series, so basically your not expecting much out of them. If its something like the FX5900 or higher up or ATI Radeon 9700 & up then you would expect a huge score increase. Anyways if your games run perfectly fine, then it still shows that your graphics card is up to it. Don't let benchmarks tell you otherwise.

i agree.the 5600 is not much more powerful than the ti4200 cards it replaces.it just has dx9 capabillities.

i get around 1600 with a ti4200 in 3dmark03

I had a FX5600 and got about the same score as you, I bought a FX5900XT and now get 4592. Although you may find the score somewhat disappointing if the card does all you want then why bother.
