PC not going into boot sequence.

Posting on behalf of my sister.

My sis installed a new cd writer last week because her old one would not write anymore.

Everything was fine and she was burning away like mad again. A few days later she switched on her PC but it did'nt seem to want to boot up and the monitor just stayed in standby mode. She uninstalled the new writer but still no luck,. She also removed the keyboard and stuff but still not booting up. Any ideas.

Many thanks to all who reply.

Rather than "not booting up" - can you describe eaxctly what happens - where t gets to if anywhere, what lights come on if any, what fans work, if any - please

More detail about just what does or does not happen would help a lot.

If absolutely nothing happens, then there is either a dud connection to the PSU, a dud switch on the computer, or simply a dead PSU. You can rule some of these things out if there is any sign of a light or a noise at all?
