Pc Messed Up????

i have a compaq Deskpro EP/SB seris computer with the folowing specs:
(i copied these from system info in bios setup)
intel P2 Processor - Speed 300/66 Mhz
processor stepping 652
384mb RAM
system rom date 04/06/1998
system board revision 1
asset tracking number 8825BYP33343

when i try and install any of the following versions of windows - 98,XP home,XP Pro Or Windows Longhorn trial - i get the foloowing messages

A Problem Has Been Dectected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer


in the technical info bit it says:

*** STOP 0x00000050 (0xe10dc068,0x00000000,0x80829fq3, 0x00000001

the pc used to linux installed when i got it but i removed it and formated the hard drive.
there is no new hardware installed.

Errors such as those are usually caused by a bad driver. From the type of error you've pointed out suggests that your video card driver is acting up, but check also devices that depend on the USBs. Start with the video drivers and then move on you other installed hardware.

so if i put a new VGA card in it will work?
