Hi, it would help us to help you if, as well as telling us what the problem is, tell us as much as you can about your machine - Laptop/Desktop Win'98 - XP, Hard-drives size, Memory, other drives any external components etc. Otherwise we are just fumbling in the dark.

Blue screens are often down to iffy drivers: have you updated any drivers recently or installed new hardware?

As well as iffy drivers, that fact that it keeps turning itself off points at either over-heating, or a hardware problem. Possible clogged up fans, or PSU on its way out. How old is PC?

I havent updated any drivers though i did add a audio interface which was fine but now windows says no audio hardware, pc is 5 years old but replaced mb last year & psu as well as fan, i checked temp of pc the other day & it seemed to be ok

Hmm, when you say audio interface, do you in fact mean a Sound Card? If so, and it was recent, double check that the card is seated properly and also suspect that if it was a card you fitted, you might have disturbed something else in pc - cables or mem-sticks. Worth checking them all to make sure they are all ok.

yes i mean sound card, i fitted it about a month ago, i forgot to mention sometimes when i turn my pc on i keep getting blue screens & the only way to fix it so it boots is by unpluging memory stick & hd, ive checked everythings plugged in ok & it is, the other day i got add new hardware message for iee controller, not sure what that is?

  Technotiger 16:34 20 Apr 07

I hope you have a good backup saved. It could be that your hard-drive (5yrs old ?) may be on the way out. It is not doing your pc any good at all by unplugging and refitting things - especially the memsticks.

PS - iee is the hard-disk controller!
