a friend who tried to instal vista updates on his laptop has a problem in that the third updated keep trying to install but keeps rebooting his lappy. He cannot get into his os and unable to get into safe mode to remove the update that is causing the problem. If he switches off and then switches on the problem continues just rebooting all the time and he is not able to do anything.
thanks

Try this - When your computer is starting press and hold F8, this will bring an option before it boots to your desktop. Pick "Last known good configuration".

Also - If you have the Windows Vista Install Disc you could insert that and when it boots choose REPAIR option.

OR

You could try removing all power to the laptop - remove battery and power charger - then hold down the power button on the laptop (could take anything from 20secs to 2-3minutes) - then reconnect the battery/power and try again.

If successful and you get into your OS then switch off Automatic Updates. You may also have to do a "system restore" to a time before the updates you were attempting to install.
