PC Internet Connection

My PC and laptop connect to my netgear adsl modem router, but only my laptop can get on to the internet.
I've noticed that my PC has the '1394 connection', which is enabled, but this is the only entry in network connections, there isn't 'local area connection' entry.
I get a green light on the network card in the PC.
Any ideas?

1394 is the Firewire port, and nothing to do with the LAN port which is used for your adsl modem.

If the network card is not shwing in Network connections - that's the problem that needs sorting.

Is it shown as installed and without problems in the Device/Hardware Manager?

Which OS are you using?

I'm using XP Professional SP2, it's showing up in device manager as installed with no errors. I can see a bridge adaptor with an error against it, could this be related?
