PC going mad!!!!

  Tinyheed 21:45 19 Mar 07

Wonder if anyone can help.

I have a past problem reoccurring with my pc.

When i turn my pc on my monitor stays in standby mode, whilst the pc boots up. if i press anything on the monitor it says

'Power Save Mode, press any key or the mouse to continue'

Eventually after lots of turning off and on i can usually get the pc on , but it is a major pain in the butt.

When this happened before I was told there was a problem with my graphics card, so i have reverted to the on board graphics card, but I'm continuing to have the same problems

Any help at all would appreciated

Check the monitor cable for damage, check the monitor connector for damaged or bent pins or try the monitor on another PC

Possibly a problem with the monitor lead , is it a separate one or built in ?

Does the Monitor Mains power cable connect to the PC? if so use a kettle lead for the monitor. But change the fuse to 5amp

Monitor is obviously working its just not getting the wake up signal from the PC.

1. check the monitor cble from the graphics card

2. check the graphics card is fully inserted in its slot.

3. check the power saving options in windows and BIOS, turn off Energy start compliant power saving.
