I have just installed a DVD burner - took out old CD burner & used same connections.
PC doesn't show it at all.
Any suggestions?

What operating system? Have you tried detecting it in the BIOS?

Check that the jumper on the rear of the drive is set at the same position as the one you removed.

It will likely be 'Master'.

If the CD rewriter worked then a DVD version should as well - both use the same Windows CDROM driver.

It's most likely to be a loose connection somewhere caused by the swap over and/or the jumper not set to Master if there is only one drive.

Check in Device Manager whether the drive is supposed to be working corectly and that the Use this Device (Enable) menu is correct.

Many thanks, guys. It was the jumpers. Now up and running.
