Hi,

I have a acer aspire 5550 laptop and it's clock doesn't work. When the laptop is shutdown/standby/hibernated, the clock stops. I tried changing the BIOS battery as well but no help. Is my guess of faulty BIOS/Motherboard right? Any clue/fix please?

Regards!

I would be tempted to try another kown good battery before going any further however it does sound if you have a BIOS / motherboard problem.

A BIOS flash may help but of course flashing the BIOS is not without its own hazards.

Like Fruit bat says,A BIOS flash may help but of course flashing the BIOS is not without its own hazards.Maybe try downloading one of the free Clocks available and give it a try.I am sure someone can tell you of a good one to use.I tried googling for one but there are a few bad sites out there so be careful if you do the same.
