PC/ camcorder video editing

I have recently bought a DV camcorder with firewire in/out capability. It came supplied with all leads and I have used the USB still picture transfer with great success (for me anyway!).
I take a lot of video of my kids, but I want to edit out the dross. What do I need to put the video on my HDD, and can anyone recommend any kit?

If you get Video Factory click here you'll get hooked on dv editing before you know it.

Thanks for that MichelleC, what type of hardware do I need? I have no firewire ports on my PC, can you recommend any cards?

Any firewire card will do - they're about circa £20, but if you get 1 with a few ports you can add other devices as and when. When you install use the windows generic driver unless there's probs and then use the Texas.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go asap. Can't wait to get started.
