does anyone know what prog can read these files. I have a backup from last year on cd and have no idea what wrote them. As always any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean "pdf"? If so, Adobe Reader will (click here)

A backup program

Paragon disk image uses the .pbf file extension as stated in ashdav's link, it's a fair bet this is the program you are looking for if your sure it's a backup cd your looking at.

the silly thing is it is a cd that I burnt when I got rid of a pc and this is all my data off it. I am not aware of using any backup prog I simply copied all the data to nero and burnt the cd.

what I would really like is a prog that could open the file so I could see what it contains.

Have you looked at ashdav's link to see if any of the programs associated with the .pbf file extension are recognisable to you?

You could try opening in it in notepad, you might get some clues but it'll most likely look like gibberish.

it will not open in notepad and I have never used any of the progs using that link.
