i am running win 98se but i have a problem with it freezing been on win update but i can not find a patch to stop this any help please

Try running system file check to see if some files have been corrupted. The only thing is it will show all files that have changed since install of 98se, but you can then update at M$ site. Just change the windows files.

RUN/, type sfc and have 98 disc handy.

Also try running defrag and scandisc in safemode.

Adding to what MichelleC has written, has the problem just occured, have you installed a program recently or perhaps a game around the time the freezes started. Most problems on Pc's happen because the users either installs or uninstalls something. You may have programs running in the background that starts when the Pc does, these really slow your Pc down and most apart from Anti-Virus are not needed. And do you have an Updated Anti-Virus program running.
