Password protected file(s)

I wish to put some sensitive files in another file which I would want to be protected. I dont wany to encrypt the files, only prevent the holder file being opened other than with a password. Is this possible please, and how. Many thanks.

It's actually rather simpler if you do encrypt them, as many encryption packages come with password protection. I use this - it's open source, simple to use, and free - AxCrypt click here

AxCrypt is good, but Cryptainer may be more what you're looking for click here

Many thanks to everyone who have given me programs to look at. I have put them all in favourites and will look at them during the coming week. Once again many thanks.

I've tried a few of them, but the only one that I can work with is the free Cryptainer LE - see Belatucadrus' link. But you may find another that is acceptable & easy to work with. G
