password to open folder

I do photo's and keep them in a folder on my desktop and want to put a password in to stop the grandkids opening it when they come and play games.
I run win xp pro on Fat 32 can any body tell me how to do this please

Try storing your files in zip folders, i havn't used the standard XP zip folders yet but Winzip has an option to password protect files (either prevent access or prevent others from altering the files).

would you not be better off setting up a seperate user account for the kids and only give it permission for the things you want them to be able to access.

I use a program that completely hides folders so they cannot be seen until a hotkey combination is used then a password entered. that way people dont even know you're keeping secrets

Done it with zip folders just what i wanted.
Did not want to give the kids their own account just hide my photos as they take a lot of time to process . thanks for the help


be careful the kids could still delete or move the zip folder if it is password protected.
