Within the control panel of many Toshiba laptops is the option to set a BIOS password. Take a look there.

I agree - There`s a "Toshiba HW Setup" on mine and the option on the password tab is "Not Registered" or "Registered"

According to click here there is no compatible BIOS update for XP, only W98 the latest being dated 16/05/02, so going through the Hardware Control Panel will not be an option. Perhaps someone can supply a link to a third party application.
