Password access to site

  WillM 08:30 04 Aug 05

Hi all,

I have constructed a site, using Front Page in order for friends and family to keep in touch and view photos etc.

What I would like on the homepage is a password which will prevent 'just anyone' from being able to access the site.

I have read about cgi scripts but this is not too clear and I have experimented with form fields and forms but can't seem to get anything to work??!

Any help appreciated...

I have used "Password Pro" along with "Password Generator" from this page click here. It isn't foolproof but is adequate for general use.

.htaccess is probably one of the simplest ways out there (providing you have an apache server!)

If not, dito what Eric said.

Hi folks,

Thanks again for all the good advice. I have downloaded a couple of Java acripts and am beginning to gain some understanding of them. All seems to be working well so far.

Thank you.
