Partitions on an External HDD

I got a 320Gb Sumo external HDD for Christmas. The literature says its formatted FAT32. My laptop is also FAT32. Laptop is a 60Gb with two partitions C and D.

Reading the literature on the Sumo it tells me the largest partition for FAT32 is 32Gb. Does this mean I shall have to partition the external HDD into ten areas.

I am also giving serious consideration to converting to NTFS but am having serious doubts bearing in mind that my Acer Laptop as a hidden partition for recovery purposes which will be FAT32.

Just don’t know what to do for the best.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

So if I plug in to the new external hard drive it will only have one huge partition which I will be able to copy, with Achronis, a copy of my whole hard drive?
