Due to my Dell computers hard drive having a terminal illness I am , hopefully ig Dell get their act together, getting a new one. I have in mind to partition it (80gb)into three. One would just be for windows, the next for programs, one for downloads & finally a small partition for backup. I know it's physically possible but will I gain anything?

I partition my 80Gb into two equal partions. The first for working (windows, programs, etc) - the second for downloads and backups.

Far less complication than separating Windows and programs, yet nice and safe for data and program/driver recovery in the event of problems.
