I have often seen requests for a free partitioning tools on this site.

I have come across this Linux Tool QTParted which runs from a bootable CD that appears to do the trick.

click here and choose the LiveCD download. It is an ISO image that can then be burned to CD.

I need to partion an external Hd to put my drive image on.

Yes and it worked fine resizing a FAT32 partition.

Most XP comps are on NTFS does it work with that.

Not for me I use Acronis DiskDirector suit10

Yes it does work with NTFS.

I use Partition Magic but my posting is in response to requests for free utilities.
