Just bought a 160 Gg hdd and as yet haven't decided whether to clean install xp etc etc or Acronis my current hdd over.

Anyway should I bother to partition this size of drive? It will be my master drive with a 80Gg as slave with also an external 80Gg as backup.

Any thoughts, suggestions welcome folks.

Rapscallion.

three patitions of approx 50in size.
your C drive
your clone of c drive
and a partition for personal docs pictures etc or if you like a lot of music put this on 3rd partition.

Think he means 50Gb partitions. But it depends what you want to use them for

Use Acronis to save the image the OS on one of the partitions, if the OS crashes, you can load the saved image back in about 10 mins. It works cause its saved my bacon 4-5 times in 4 years.
NO DOUBT. David

There is no valid reason these days to partition a drive. It is perfectly possible to organise your 'stuff' without partitioning.
