Partition Magic 8 - conflict with SoundBlaster

  chugby 19:41 12 Nov 04

Need to resolve conflict with PM8 and SoundBlaster, solution from manual shown below but not sure how to go about this or whether this conflict only occurs when using Boot Magic.
Any advise on this welcome. Opsys WinME.

"The DOS drivers for a SoundBlaster Live sound card may conflict with PartitionMagic operations that require going into boot-mode. PowerQuest recommends that you unload the SoundBlaster drivers (by remarking them in your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files) until after you have finished using PartitionMagic."

What it means is that you need to edit both autoexec.bat and config.sys with notepad (for example) and add

at the start of each line which refers to SoundBlaster software.

thanks for reply and putting me in the right direction, still having some trouble with CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Appears these were ammended for WinME. Tried Microsoft site
but no luck there on this, found this link click here
but cant see how this works.
Will need to run Partition Magic from the
rescue disk anyway as have Norton Systemworks installed (another conflict!). Dont really know but wonder if this will resolve the problem as system not booted into windows, what do you think? thanks

Do you need to keep everything on the PC or are you willing to format the C drive and do a clean install?

If you can format and reinstall, it would be the better option.

If not, describe the problem and someone may help.
