I'm installing XP on a 20 gig hard drive (Master) and slaving a 120gig drive. After installing the Operating System onto the smaller drive am I able to format the 120 into 2 60 gig partitions from within Windows. I'm aware that I can format it but can I partition without any specialist software?

Click Start, Run, Type:

diskmgmt.msc

Click OK

You can partition from here.

...and format.

Your slave drive is "Disk 1"
