last week I remember seeing a reference to another partion maker other than partition magic. Could someone point me to it please. The search system brings up a lot of partition posts but not this one.

I think the one you are looking for is called ranish.

I don't know where it is but try typing ranish into google and see what turns up.

Ranish is very difficult to use, a steep learning curve. Acronis not bad but expensive for what it is, System Commander is easier than that, but the best by far is Partition Magic for range of capabilities, ease of use and data security.
