Partion Large harddsk to run ScandiskCluster size

Hi I am a pensioner and just built a new computer Athlon 2600 Proc,120gig hrd drv,started to load windows Me after formatting Drv,it loaded ok upto the restart your computer the point were I could not restart the error message scandisk wont operate due to Cluster size too large on Hardrive ?how do I restart to change the cluster size.

I'm assuming when you formatted you went for the FAT32 file system. Is it possible that when doing this you got something wrong like made the 'cluster size' too large? I cannot think how this might've happened whilst formatting but it may be the cause of your problem. "Clusters cannot be 64 kilobytes (KB) or larger..." -click here - also includes issues with the Scandisk tool (but only with Win9x) - worth a read.
