Parental control of internet program

  shadespug 18:32 03 May 09

I am running Vista.

I have a teenage son and I am wanting to install some software that will limit him from accessing certain sites that may contain pornography or violence or other inappropriate sites. Ideally I would like the software to have some sort of timer on it that would stop him using the internet after a certain time.

He uses Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Excellent, non intrusive and effective.

Other than that Vista has its own parental controls.

post back if you decide to use it.

You can chose which times you wish to turn the internet off. You need an e-mail address to mail the registration number to but it's a doddle to set up.

It also has different settings depending on the level of protection that you want.

I have it set at moderate but you can allow certain sites through that are caught in the net for example You Tube.

Once it's set up you don't even have to think about it and there is an activity log if you do wish to check on what your child has viewed or tried to view.

You can even set it to 'bark' if in inappropriate site is attempted for access.

Other than that I combine prohibition with education as kids are bound to be inquisitive!

Good luck.

being a parent, I completerly understand you! Unfortunately, I have nothing to recommend, as we have Mac at home and the monitoring software I use is designed for Mac OS. In case someone need it, I can give you a tip - ActyMac DutyWatch is a great tool for monitoring childrens' internet activity.
Good luck to you! (:
