I am plagued by something called panostandalone, it disrupts programmes and updates (eg AVG) and prevents computer closing down. Microsoft say it results from an error in software produced by Hewlett Packard (I recently downloaded camera info). Hp do not seem to have a solution, neither do Microsoft. Help! How do I get rid of it?

if you have a disc for your camera try reinstalling
it worked for someone on another forum but there isn't realy any additional info..

Thanks for your good advice, uninstalled hp software and panostandalone disappeared. Haven't tried re-installing it yet! Perhaps it is't a virus.
