Panasonic TX-32LE7F as monitor

I have connected my PC to this TV via a DVI/HDMI adapter on the Graphics card to the HDMI input on the TV. No matter what settings I try to use the picture quality is appalling. The icons and text are all blurry. They would be unreadable if I didn't already know what they say!!!! Yet when I play a movie, either from the DVD drive or from a file, the picture is perfect.
I've tried the PC on two other TV's: a 32 inch LCD Philips and a 42 inch Pioneer Plasma with no problems. In fact the Philips picture is brilliant! And all without having to play around with resolution settings.
Anyone else had this problem and if so did you manage to sort it.
As an aside, the strange thing is I'm getting audio through the HDMI cable from the DVI output of the Graphics card. Thought that wasn't supposed to happen.
Thanks
