The PC in question is networked [via twisted cable] and used only to back up main unit. At switch on after log in screen, following message appears;

Limited Virtual Memory
---------------------------
Your system has no paging file, or the paging file is too small.

1. Right-click My Computer, click Properties, and then click the Advanced tab.
2. Click on the Performance Options button, and then click on the Change button. Under Drive [Volume Label], select the drive you want.
3. To create a new paging file, click the Initial Size (MB) box, and then type a paging file size.
-Or-
To increase the paging file size, click the Maximum Size (MB) box, and then type a larger paging file size.

When you have finished, click Set, and then click OK.
---------------------------
OK

The system then allocates 20MB. If paging file size is changed and OKd, virtual memory showing in resultant Performance Options screen always shows 20MB more than the figure actually set. When system rebooted, message still appears and 20MB is allocated again.

Anyone have a solution to stop me going round this circle?

Got tired of going round in circles, formatted and reinstalled - cures most problems, eh?!
