I have an HP DV9821ea laptop which was purchased 1/10/2008 and am unable to write anything to a disc. Had laptop checked by my local P.C. repair Company and advised this is a hardware problem which they cannot fix can anyone advise?

If the hardware is broken - click here
buy a USB external CD/DVD burner drive

Someone else may recommend one.
I just use an old one out of a old tower with a USB to IDE/SATA connecter cable that cost about a fiver.
