Hi,

I have a Packard Bell Imedia 5044, my problem is I need to reset my machine with the master cd's due to a young lad accidentally formating my system without any thought...Grrrr...
When I start my computer it starts to read cd 1, after a short while it comes up with an error message (ERROR5) (Glue parts error). Then i'm left with the flashing c: prompt that does not respond. I have tried PB site without any success. Can anybody help me please?
Thanks.
Richard.

Clean CDROM with a lens cleaner CD and if no better.
Try lightly polishing CD with Brasso

You need a bootable floppy disc or bootable CD which if you don't have you can download from

Yeh sicknote is right. The recovery Master CD comes with a boot floppy disk as well. If you don't have it, download it from the above link. Boot from the floppy first then it will tell you when to insert the cd-rom.

This was suggested to me by a PB guru

Make sure there is a FAT32 partition on the drive with a label of HDD and then re-try the recovery

sil_ver is correct i had the same problem myself the first time i ever formatted a packard bell. make sure to label your drive HDD on the screen shown after the format of C: is finished.

type 'format C:/q' to do a quick format or just 'format C:' which will take longer and then press enter.

then label it 'HDD' and press enter. insert your cdrom 1 if its bootable or both the red floppy and cd1 both if you boot from the floppy first, then press ctrl+alt+del and away ya go.
