Pack files downloading in Word format

This is a bit of a strange one! After problems with my PC I uninstalled one of my games (Empire Total War) then re-installed it. Launched it, but it crashed on the first page. Repeated the actions - crashed again. I then had a quick look at the data files and discovered they were all have the "W" logo, and will only open in Office 2010. I am using as my main browser Google Chrome and wonder if it could have anything to do with my settings. As I'm typing I'm thinking I might try the installation in IE9 or Firefox, but just wondering if anyone else has come across this.

Could be that the file association for the data files has been transferred to Word. Try changing the data file associations to the game. However I suspect that you will probably have to completely uninstall it again using something like Revo and then reinstall it.
