Hi

Adaware has detected the p2p worm Alcan.a. However even though it deletes it, when I reboot and rerun Adaware it is still there. Can anyone help?

Run HJT click here and post a log on the Malware Removal forum click here

Download vcleaner.exe from AVG site to a floppy, flip the write permit button on the floppy after renaming it to anything.exe, boot up in safe mode and run the file, this may work. The renaming is because some virii recognise the cleaner

Turn off system restore and reboot before cleaning because sometimes the worms hide in there

Thanks guys - it took a while but Malware removal eventually sorted it

"Turn off system restore and reboot before cleaning because sometimes the worms hide in there"

No it doesn't and neither does any worm.

The system restore data is on your hard drive, I can see no reason why worms should not be concealed within this data and come back again when you re-boot
