Overwrite changes

I'm using XP home edition with service pack 2. when i save anything using any microsoft application it asks

The file 'example.xls' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do?

Save a copy
Overwrite changes

this happens everytime i save any microsoft file eg word, excel, ppoint, etc. no one else has access to these files to change them? can anyone help me with this annoying pop up?

Are you logged on as Administrator with no other users?

i'm logged in as an administrator. there is a guest account but it's always off and it's not even possible to log in using this user
