I have a Compaq Presario 2700 laptop with P3 1000mhz and 512mb ram the problem is that when i try to play games or do something like virus check, almost instantly when i start these programs the cpu fan kicks in at full speed the computer locks up and will enventually crash with blue screen message, when that happens i try to ctrl/alt/delete to stop the program but i can do nothing.

Any help on this would be great.

Thanks

Do you have a case fan or a power supply fan thats not working?

cpu overheats whenever i do anything more than playing solitare, i.e virus scan or playing warcraft. as soon as i start the programs the cpu fan goes into overdrive then the computer locks up and then crashes.

As far as i can see there is 2 fans one on the back that feeds air into the laptop and there is the cpu fan which i can hear when it goes into overdrive
