overclocking FSB

I have a Q6600 2.4GHZ cpu
I increased the FSB ( cpu host frequency) from 266 (1066mhz) to 300 (1200mhz) and all runs well.
How does this equate to the 2.4GHZ that my CPU was running at.
CPU-Z still shows it at 2.4ghz as does pcwizard.
The multiplyer is locked at x9 and there is no option to increase the 2.4ghz that the cpu runs at,which i could do on my old board and a AMD 2400+ cpu.
Should it not show around 2.6ghz now?
Or am i missing something?
